Simon Sinkinson - Master Thatcher
In conjunction with Furzey Gardens
During the summer of 2006 Simon has been helping to set up a working thatching experience to illustrate the craft of the thatcher.
At Furzey Gardens there are over 1000 sq metres of thatch on their buildings and visitors will now be able to see the techniques involved in this ancient craft.
A variety of thatching materials are shown on display roofs at eye level ... reed, longstraw, heather, combed wheat straw and others. There is also an exhibition of old thatching tools in the barn.
